Digital Literacy: Evaluation

my product: the slides i made (which i was assigened) go with my desgin spesification which states that: 1. Must be related to the topic of Digital Literacy.2. Must include outlook into the majority of grades to show how it differs in different levels.3. Recommended to be the time of about 4 minutes.4. Suggested that it be tested with a survey to completely random students, and they should be from all different grades.5. Suggested that it use images and photographs.6. Should be bright so that it attracts attention.7. Must be informative and educational.8. Suggested that it also be fun so that people are interested.9. Must include a bibliography in MLA format. and the slides i used were all in that format and followed those guidelines. the slides i did were about digital literacy in grades 6,7,8,9, so basicly middle school even though 9th grade is high-school. so that follows my desgin speisfication, and my slides even though do not take four minutes, when added to the rest of the completed powerpoint it is about four minutes.
I asked a few of my friends and classmates to evaluate my slides (not the entire powerpoint, becase it was not quiet done), I asked Neha Ahmed and Amna Nasralla and Mohamed Khalout and Hadi Zahraan; I asked these people so that my evaluations on my slides vary and I can realy see what is the problem in it, and what is good about my slides.
Neha Ahmed's evaluation on my slides were that it was clear in the sences that it is simple and basic. She liked it and said that it was good for explaing briefly and the basic idea of Digital Literacy, but it needed more detail, and that I needed to make it more spasific. Just so that it makes it clear to the last point what Digital Literacy is.
Amna Nasralla's evaluation on my slides was that they were clear presse and good. They made it easy to understand the concept of digital literacy, in genral and how it is used in the grades 6,7,8, and 9. she liked the way I made the powerpoint in bullet points and brief sentences/words, becase ot made it easier to pay attention to it and make it more simple. Which she said simpler is better.
Mohamed Kalout's evaluation on my slides were that even though it was easy to understand, he felt that I did not realy explore all I can in the concept of Digital Literacy in the grades 6 though 9.
Yazan's evaluation was that they were amazing and tha he understood the concept clearly and better from my slides then all the reaserch he did this year on the topic.
I think I worked well in each stage of the evaluation very well and productively. I did not find it very hard to follow the deign cycle. For example during the investigation I just had a bit of trouble in the begingin understanding what Digital Literacy is; but when I did I had no trouble with the investigation and answering the questions on the Digiteen Wiki the page on Digital literacy. The design was not difficult becase we had the template orginised in a story bored and each one nows there specific slides and what they need to mention on them, so for me I new exactly what I need to mention that I barley had to do any more research to complete my slides. The plan was something I would write as the prosess was moving forward and just make notes and comments on what I did, which is very simple and straight forward. Then with all this the making of the slides barley took ten minutes. So I can say with confidence that I had no trouble following the design cycle for this project.

Digital Literacy: Investigation

Introduction:
Digital literacy is the abilaty to use and undersatnd the computer (Internet). Just like the word literate means to be able to read. Digital Literacy means to know how to read the couputer ‘in a figure of speach’

The Problem:
the problem with digital liteacy is that it deprives people getting to be more social.

1. Overview/Description of the various aspects of the topic.
Digital Literacy is the talent and ability to locate, organize, understand, evaluate, and create information...using the digital technology that we have today. It involves working with knowledge of the current and modern technology and understanding how to use it. Digitally literate people are people that understand how to work with technology and are usually more efficient in the work place. The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families and other people.

2. Background of the topic including specific real examples.
The Digital Literacy Curriculum helps you develop the essential skills you need to begin computing with confidence.Digital Literacy is to have the Ability to: locate understand investigate to create information using digital technology. technology is changing the way we think, as in schools around the world are updating there curriculum, and course materials being available to students online, so they are in the 21st century instead of the 20th.

3. Social / ethical aspects of the topic including how real people and communities have been positively or negatively affected and legal consequences
Ways to be digitally literate include keeping up with new technology, knowing terms when using technology and also being able to fix simple things like a computer crash or deleting of important files. If you don't know how to do these things to have the knowledge of going online and figuring out how to fix the problem. This is a positive outcome because people have now been able to correct mistakes and fix problems much more effectively and efficiently. This is better for the people that have time-consuming jobs and are on deadlines, being able to fix mistakes so easily with new technology has helped minimize stress in the office also helping people to work longer, happier.

4. Possible solutions to the problems that have emerged.
Not affordable, it is very expensive to own a laptop or computer especially in poor countries, so a soloution though it is not very reliable would be some generous donations. Not all people access the internet, this is the same you need money and if some people can not afford it, the overment can find a way, maby get some donnations, becase this for educating the childred and adults. these causes make less people understand how to use Digital Literacy, which is not-Many people might understand how to use it-The access could cause problems such as hacking and info that is private, stealing files, and destroying work.

5. Guideline(s) or rule(s)

Design Specification:1.

Design Brief:To solve this problem, we are going to create a Microsoft PowerPoint. I decided to make a PowerPoint because my group and I were trying to show Digital Literacy in all grades, one at a time. My group and I decided that a PowerPoint would be the best way to show different grades one at a time. After we decided what we were going to do, I decided to do a bit of reading and reviewing documents on the web. We have done a lot of research so far, but I plan to do more, more specifically; for grades 10, 11 and12.I am also going to use the photo from our Google docs as the opening picture on the first page because it says “I want YOU for digital literacy!”, and I feel it sums up what we are trying to communicate to the public in this PowerPoint.

Digital Literacy: Plan

process journal

(if there are not screan shots there are links to the site this is becase i had some trouble with the screan shots)

Week one:
This week we just started the project, i did not do much but what i did is just plan everything and disscuss with my group what our popwerpoit will be and how many slides will be and what will be on them and which one of us will do which.
we also worked on our Digiteen Wiki (Digital Literacy Page). which we all contributed in evenly.

http://digiteen09-1.flatclassroomproject.org/Digital+Literacy
we also worked on reaserching and devlopong the project: we decided that Holly and i will do Digital Literacy for Hight school (where we decided i would do grades 6, 7, 8, 9 and Holly would do grades 10, 11, 12) and Violet for Elementery.
we also have all our perveous work and reaserch on our doc
LINK:

Week Two:
this week we were a bit more productive and we gatherd together and devided up the work, we decided that Violet will write the Story board that we all disscussed and who is actully going to create each slide (adn the amount: about two slides each). then i worked on our digiteen Editting little bits every where and adding on to it. and Holly will write up our Desgin Breif and Desgin Spesification. and we had that done during this week.
so i finished my reaserch on Ditgital Accsess, but i had some problems becase every site i went to i could not understand what it was saying about anything. so what i did was reivew the previous reaserch and i used my logic and comic sense to talk about the use of Digital Literacy in grades between 6 to 9. and since i am in grade 9 its making it eaiser for me to write and disscuss about the issue ion these grades.
i also handed in my investigation and relised when i got my feedback on it that there is things i need to work on, in my investigation, that would take some time.
so for me is just to kind of write up and orginize my design cycle and do the two slides i was assigned to do. (i have drafts)

Week Three:
this week had to be productive but i hounstly left things to the last minuteand started to rush many things like i only started to work well and very productivly this week was on monday (night at home), i got my investigation completer, and my desgin breif and spesifiaction were done form before, so i finly uploadewd my scans of the story board (i had trouble becase violet kept on forgetting them, and never brought them to scan.), but then finaly she did send them and i sent her my slides i did a couple more than i was assigned because on the stroy board even though we talked about it the intro slides were never drawn, so i did them. but i got everything done so all that is left is printing and handing it in.
